Most will recognize the laurel logo of the newly designed Fred Perry polo shirts arriving in stores this month.
What you might not know is that the shirts are the first addition to the line that celebrates 100 years since Perry’s birth.
When the Englishman – arguably the best tennis player in the world -- was approached to start a clothing line in the 1940s, one of the first items was a polo shirt with an elaborate laurel – then the symbol of Wimbledon – stitched into the shirt.
The limited edition polo shirts, priced at $95 each, will be available at the Fred Perry Soho store in New York, Neiman Marcus, Dallas, and other select retailers.
