Allen’s sophomore effort may share the same edgy wit as 2007’s Alright, Still, but this one shows just how much one can grow in two years. Tracks like “The Fear” and “Everyone’s At It” not only get people on their feet but also tackle ideas that you’d never think would mesh with pop melodies. “F*** You” takes her straightforward lyrics lays them on top of a sugary sweet melody and makes you smile despite the razor sharp message the song carries. It’s Not Me, It’s You shows a new chapter in Lily Allen’s life—one that we’re more than happy to listen to over and over.
